Frequently Asked Questions

  • While healing can be a journey of self-discovery and transformation, it is also the practice of simply being and giving yourself and the world around you grace. It’s about reconnecting with your innate wholeness. It’s the process of accepting who you are while becoming more you — reclaiming the parts that were silenced, softening the protective layers that once kept you safe, and building the capacity to feel, love, and live with more ease, confidence, and freedom.

Healing is also being in the unknown, finding acceptance in the resistance and sitting in the discomfort of the present moment. It is that vulnerable decision to show up and give yourself permission to let someone be a witness to you, to hold space for you. In time, accepting that there is a person whom you can trust and who has unconditional admiration and care for you just as you are.

Taking the time to read this with the hopes to support yourself or another is healing. Thinking about getting help is healing. Taking the first step to seek or get support is healing. Healing is the feeling of the sun on your face and the embrace of walking in the rain.

At Metamorphosis Psychotherapy, we believe healing is a deeply personal and sacred journey — one that honors both your humanity and your spirit.

  • Somatic therapy is an approach that invites the body into the healing process. Trauma doesn’t just live in our minds — it lives in our nervous systems. Many of us carry trauma in our bodies without even realizing it. Somatic practices — attuning to sensation — allow us to unlock, explore and release the tension stored in our bodies. Somatic work helps us notice how our bodies carry the imprint of past experiences, and offers gentle ways to release, regulate, and reconnect. This might include breathwork, guided movement, touch awareness, or simply slowing down enough to feel what’s happening inside. Your body is wise — this work helps you listen.

  • Sex therapy is a space to explore your relationship with pleasure, intimacy, desire, identity, and connection — without shame. We talk about the things that often go unspoken: struggles with arousal, mismatched libidos, healing after betrayal or assault, identity exploration, painful sex, navigating kink or non-monogamy, and more.

It’s never prescriptive or performance-based. Instead, it’s a compassionate space to get curious, deepen self-trust, and build more fulfilling intimate experiences — solo or partnered.

  • Therapy is not a straight line. It’s a process — sometimes gentle, sometimes messy — and often profoundly cyclical and seasonal. Just like the natural world, our healing has its winters and springs, its moments of stillness and sudden bloom. One of the most powerful signs that therapy is working isn’t that you feel “better” all the time, but that you begin to relate to your experiences differently.

You may still have hard days. Grief may revisit you. Old feelings might rise up unexpectedly. But over time, you start to recognize that being stuck or feeling low isn’t a failure — it’s a part of being human. And instead of fighting those feelings or wishing them away, you begin to meet them with more compassion.

Therapy helps you build that inner sense of safety — the knowing that “I can handle this.” You learn to listen to your body, to make space for your emotions, and to trust that no feeling is forever. You begin to soften and take care of your inner critic. You notice more ease in small, everyday moments. You find yourself responding to life with more presence, more curiosity, more confidence.

Healing doesn’t mean you never feel pain again. It means you stop abandoning yourself when pain shows up. And in that shift — when you’re no longer fighting your emotions but learning from them — that’s when you know therapy is working.

  • The right fit often feels like a quiet exhale. You might notice a sense of ease in your body — like you can be a little more honest, a little more curious, a little more yourself. Maybe you feel seen in a way you haven’t before, or gently challenged in ways that feel supportive, not overwhelming.

Therapy is most powerful when it happens inside a space of emotional safety. That doesn't mean every session feels easy or light — in fact, healing often asks us to move through grief, confusion, and big emotions. But with the right therapist, even those hard moments feel a little more bearable because you’re not carrying them alone.

Over time, you'll begin to notice signs that you’re in the right place: you're developing more compassion for yourself, trusting your own process, and realizing that stuckness doesn’t mean failure — it just means you're still moving through it. The right therapist helps you hold that truth with tenderness.

We deeply believe in collaborative, client-centered relationships, so we invite you to ask questions, express your needs, and listen to your intuition—  no shame, no pressure. You deserve to feel held, understood, and empowered in your healing.

    A Gentle Note About Money

I deeply understand the tenderness and stress that can arise when talking about finances. I welcome this conversation — not as a barrier, but as part of our healing work together. I’m also open to creating financial plans, where your rate increases gradually over time (e.g., from Tier 1 to Tier 2 or Tier 3), as your capacity grows.

This model asks for honesty, mutual care, and trust. If you’re unsure where you fall on the scale, we can explore that together.

  • Most individual therapy sessions are 45 minutes long, while couples sessions typically run 60 minutes. We may also offer extended sessions or intensives — especially for couples or clients seeking deeper process or engaging in integrative energy or body work.
